I first came upon a similar recipe from watching a YouTube video from the channel HealthNut Nutrition. What drew me to the recipe was that it was fast to make and could a serving can be made for one person. At the time I was single and did not need or want to have too much of granola sitting on my kitchen counter.
This recipe uses ingredients that are natural sweeteners, have a natural crunch and is made using a good heart healthy oil (if you choose to use it).
With the intention of adding more nutrition to this granola, I like to add chia seeds as they are high in fibre and omega-3 fatty acids. The result is that this granola will keep you fuller for longer which is always great for breakfast or a snack!
It’s important to realise that this recipe is fully customisable based on the ingredients you have at home. The only ingredients that I believe are essential in this recipe are oats, maple syrup or coconut oil and some sort of nut (almonds, pecans or walnuts are good choices). To explain why this is, it is because oats are synonymous with granola and the nuts, syrup and oil will assist in adding the crunch, which is a must when eating granola!

Below is a step-by-step video on how to made this fast and easy Stovetop Granola:
Tips for making this Stovetop Granola
- Add flavour to your ingredients by toasting the dry ingredients. This will help provide a similar taste to baking granola in the oven.
- If you run out of maple syrup or prefer a less sweet granola, use organic extra virgin coconut oil to bind the granola and assist in toasting the granola.
- If you are wanting to store the granola, allow it to cool down fully. If it is not cool, moisture from condensation in the container will make the granola stale.
How long does this Granola keep?
The granola will be good for at least 2 weeks.
Additionally, before the granola is stored at room tempreture in an an air tight container, it should be fully cooled down. This is to ensure there is no condensation in the container that will then cause the granola to become stale.
